LivBox May!

Hey again!

Good news!

  •  I'm getting my own apartment, finally! (which also means I'll be busy-ish for the time between May and the beginning of July)
  • I'm done with the anaemia medication and should be fine now! (although I do need to go to give some blood samples to be sure)
  • ???
Anyway what I wanted to talk about is this box we have in Finland called LivBox, which is similar to Glossybox, Beautybox 5 and what others you have in the US and UK and elsewhere. And I got one yesterday!

Iiiih!

I'm not sure how long we've had this in Finland (I think this is its second year now), since I just found out about it last month, which also means that this is my first LivBox ever!

I just wanted to share this with you all, so here we go~

How cute is that little ribbon?

Ooh, we're getting there!

Okay, first of all I have to say how nicely this was packaged. The little part (with the ribbon) in between the top and the wrapping paper keeps the whole package underneath neat and in control. I think this packet just looks simple and elegant. ME LIKEY.

Teehee x)

First you see this little, two-sided card, which has a greeting from a staff member (in this month's box it's actually a member leaving the staff and saying goodbye), and...

this list of the products you get, what they are, how much they are and what sizes you can get them in. Handy!
There was also a voucher for Dermalogica's web store, but I didn't take a photo of that x)

TA-DAH!

So this is what I got inside (minus earrings that I gave away before I took this photo, because I'm a derp)!
The point is that you always get some random-ish products that are specific in each month. Some of them come in full size and some in sample size.

So let's dive into what all of these are~

Cutrin Professional - Reflection Color Boost shampoo & conditioner

These are basically the travel/sample size (50ml), since the actual bottles come in 300ml and 200ml, but I couldn't be happier to get these, since I'll be travelling in July and now I don't need to buy new travel shampoo and conditioner 8)
Can't wait to try them though...

ACO Sun cerat SPF 30

Lip balm!

This couldn't have come in a better time :D
It's a lip balm that has SPF 30, UVA and UVB protection, so I am already in love with it x)
I had to try it immediately, and it feels really moisturising, and smells really pleasant. This is the full size, so yay!

Dermalogica skinperfect primer SPF 30

This is a sample size, which doesn't surprise me, since the actual full product (22ml) is normally 77€ :'D
Anyway, this is Dermalogica's primer with AGE smart actives, which basically means that it works very well on mature and prematurely-aging skin. Not to say that younger people with younger skin can't use it! I've heard people tell me that I have a good skin and I also get mistaken for 19 or 20 year old often, so I don't know if this is something I'd actually buy, but now I can test it :3

I did swatch it for you!

It's quite dark-looking (especially for my skin) right out of the tube.

Little splotch of the product on my hand, pre-blended. Still dark :D

Blended.

It is a bit dark for my skin, but if I put powder on it, it probably wouldn't show that badly. It does blend in evenly, even though it is a bit sparkly.

Paese blush with argan oil

This is the full size, and I have to say, the colour is amazing. It's this... peachy-organgey shade with some glitter.
Lately, I've become a sucker for things that smell good, and I have to tell you: this smells good.

So sparkly!

Here you can see the colour better. Notice how sparkly it is :D
Swatchy swatchy- time!

Straight from the container.

On my hand.

Yeah... I didn't expect it to be this pigmented, but it is quite :D And the sparkle spreads evenly on the skin, so you don't need to worry about having a shiny splotch on your cheek x)
I do like this a lot, and will be using it soon, since it's a shade I haven't had previously, but have needed.

Ibero pearl earrings.

These were the earrings I got in the package, and gave away immediately :'D
Pearls are really not my style, and quite frankly these were my least favourite part of the box, but it's a good thing that I found someone who actually has use for these!

Sally Hansen Diamong Strenght Nail Color - 230 Sweetie Pie.

Nail polish! YAY!
Sally Hansen is not the cheapest in Finland (usually around 9,50€ per bottle), and this happens to be the actual full bottle (13,3ml), so I'm happy 8)
Especially since it's this... lohenpunainen shade of pink that's not too in-your-face. Aka what I was missing.
I am wearing two layers of said nail polish on the photo above.

And last but not least...

Dolce by Dolce & Gabbana

Now this is a sample size once again (1.5ml). You can get the eau de parfum in two sizes: 30ml (which is about 73,50€) and 50ml (which is 95,90€).

So tiny :3

The fragrance itself is not too strong and is surprisingly pleasant. It's quite elegant and fresh, but soft. I won't probably buy the big bottle, because of it's price, but I gotta admit that I like this quite a lot.
I'm gonna carry this small bottle with me in my handbag until it's empty :)

That was all of the products from May's LivBox that I got!
I'm getting at least two boxes more, and then I might continue the order if I keep liking over 50% of the products in the boxes :3
Next unboxing will happen in July and hopefully I'll manage to make a video of the happening this time as well. The possible video will be uploaded to my YouTube channel, so check it out!
If you're not a fan of YouTube, but still want to see what I got, don't worry. I will make another blog post as soon as I have the box :3

Until then, or another time, stay human and blog ya later~!

A nail for a hair. Or however the saying goes...

I've now moved into the new place, have survived Freshers' week (during which I did quite a lot of volunteering work), and will try to get into regular blogging now whilst attending my lectures.
I will be updating stuff from my preview with something new. Basically my next *insert amount here* posts will have something "older" and something new in them every time.

Today's topics: my new nail polishes and my much newer hair (which neither were in my preview... OOPS)!

Let's start with the "older" stuff...

That is nail polishes.

As most of my readers know, I spent my summer in Finland pretty much doing nothing although I did get all these nail polishes.
I have tried all of them on already, but lazy as I was, forgot to take pictures, so you'll get swatches later :)

OPI Silver Shatter and OPI Teal the Cows Come Home

Okay, I cheated a bit and got these from the airport, since they were so much cheaper in tax free than they usually are in normal shops.
They're my first OPI polishes, and so far I don't have much to complain. They're quite "runny" which makes the application easier for some, but messier for me (though I'm always messy with polishes).
Teal the Cows Come Home needs more than one layer if you want the colour to be close to what it looks like in the bottle (but that didn't surprise me), and as with most shatter/crackle polishes, you want to be quite fast with Silver Shatter.

Gina Tricot Base coat and Pearl Fashion UK Pomegranate

The Gina Tricot one I bought myself whereas I got the Pearl Fashion UK one from my friend Meri, who instead got it from a surprise bag at a convention.
Don't have much to say about these except that the base coat is very easy to apply, and dries fast which is ALWAYS a plus with me, since I'm incredibly impatient with waiting for nail polishes to dry. Pomegranate shows up very vibrant even after one layer, is easy to apply and dries evenly.

Flormar Supershine Miracle U09 and Flormar Matifying Top-Coat

I am kinda in love with these two. I got them both for 5€ from Seppälä in Finland and only regret not getting more. I was actually surprised to see Flormar polishes in Finland.
It takes two layers for the U09 to cover the nail, but the result is beautiful. It is this deep purple with shiny, tiny bits of glitter, and it's gorgeous. Downside is you have to wait for it to dry quite a while...
The matifying top-coat is so smooth. Honestly, it dries surprisingly quickly and leaves this smooth, matte coat and from under that you can still see the colours really well.
I love using these two together.

Aaand that's about it with the nail polishes. Like I said, swatches will be coming soon! But later x)

Now, to my new awesome hair that I got cut today at Toni&Guy Worcester!
I had the appointment really early (9.00!!!) so you can guess how happy I was when I found out the washing chair had a massage setting going from shoulders to lower back~
And my hairdresser, Connie, gave me a quick head massage while washing my hair! I love being pampered like that

Got myself a fringe!

First I only wanted to get rid of my split ends, but the night before decided to go for a full fringe as well. I got to keep my hair long, which was the main thing. I was scared that she needed to cut way more off in order to get rid of the worst splits...

Never mind the bags under my eyes... couldn't be bothered to put any make-up on!

The fringe will be in my eyes in a week or two, but I don't care because I'm loving it right now!

That's about it for today, I'm afraid. More coming soon!
Stay human, and blog ya later!

UPDATE. FINALLY. YES.

Okay, I've been a very, very bad person and I have no excuses.
The truth is our internet actually was down for like 5 days or something but then it got fixed on Tuesday (16th) and since then, instead of updating, I've been just watching The X-Files, The Mentalist and going through tumblr, A LOT.

But here we go. Have my attempt of making things okay by throwing a bunch of pictures and small stories of the previous weeks.

So right BEFORE I flew back to England I went to Ropecon, where I larped, had tons of fun with my friends and made some new friends.
I got new badges and other school stuff:

Badges in Finnish would translate as:
The green - Jailbaitaxe (does NOT make sense in English, I know, but it's kind of a word play in Finnish)
The blue - Early cougar (HAHAHA. Inside joke that I'll try to explain a bit soon)
The violet - You're 16, I hope? (kinda hard to translate because of the double meaning :D)

Before Ropecon, I spent a week at a summer camp with my ninja friends and during that we somehow established that I'm an early cougar who just happens to like people under 18 :'''D
Mostly weird jokes, but I couldn't resist getting those badges (I custom made the 'Early cougar'), ESPECIALLY after becoming friends with a 15-year old at Ropecon x))

I even got a cool t-shirt from Ropecon (TRADITION!) :3

Anyhow. Like I said earlier, soon after Ropecon I flew back to England.
After I had dyed my hair blonde, of course.

(Picture taken in England so I am cheating here a bit.)

After being surrounded by people 24/7 for two months in Finland AND getting settled to the new house in nearly a day I spent a week of nonexistent privacy and lone time during which I also hunted for jobs.

My very "tidy" room during that week. (Stuff on that pile... obviously NOT mine.)

I did see Super 8 during that week so I guess I got something NOT stressfull out of that.

Oh, btw, you'll be getting a nice slice of my life- post where I'm gonna be introducing my room in the new house as soon as I manage to decorate it and take more photos :3

Let's see... after the first week of being back in England I spent time hunting for more jobs and going around shops with my nonexistent money.

First when I saw these I got really happy and then really sad 'cause I had no money ;__;

I did get these new shoes just because I'll be needing them when Uni kicks off again.

I also spent my nonexistent money on movies. But maaaan, I could NOT not see Captain America and Harry Potter 8!!!

My reactions to:
Captain America - Excited before, during AND after the movie?? Only EXTREMELY! I even cried a bit, especially when they showed trailer for Avengers AFTER the movie.
Harry Potter - I knew I was going to cry so I didn't put any make up on. Thank goodness I didn't. I cried for at least half an hour straight. And my gosh how they have grown up and ASASSDASDD ;__;
So yeah, I'm emotional and get, easily, emotionally attached to fictional characters. Shoot me.

Now, I'm not gonna lie, but I was in a big money trouble which also caused me a huge rent problem and then Kela was being a beeetch (like always) and so I had to... take a study loan. And quite a big amount of that too.

And then, for some IDIOTIC reason, I decided it'd be a great idea to spend some of that money to something else than living. Like...

a black top (I had a good reason for buying it!)
a black cardigan vest thingy (also a very good reason)
Gosh trio eye shadow TR20 Tropic Fever (a good reason)
Gosh Velvet Touch eye primer (not that good reason, for of a "Ooh, wanna try.")
Kick-Ass (not any reason)
Sherlock Holmes (not any reason)
Tron & Tron: Legacy (not any reason, but turned out one of these is 100th movie on DVD I own)
AND...

Perry the Platypus- chocolate lollipop! (My reason for this: It's Perry.)

So yeah... My defence on buying the movies is the fact they were "only" 24 pounds all together!!!
And the good reason for everything else was my friend's Star Wars-themed birthday party for which I had no proper costume... so I kinda made one up myself. LOL.

My make up and hair for the night. See, I actually used the Gosh I got! :D

And my faithful, awesome, self-made lightsaber.

It was a fun night. I loved when Claire, dressed as Darth Vader, attacked a random Scot (at least I think he was a Scot) with a lightsaber. Priceless.
I also found one of the funniest street/place names in Worcester that night:

LET ME LOL.

I think that's about it... yeah, next time I'll let you know what my room looks like and some other funny facts/things about our new house.
Till then, take care and stay human.

Take a look a these rubber ducks.

These three duckies, which I named (from left) Dean, John and Sam btw, are (hopefully) on their way to Canada now.

I'm the Queen of Random

And this, is the Random post of Doom.
I mean it. There's really no point. Just a bunch of pics and caps to tell you what's been going on.

Let's start with the fact that I'm back from my relatives and I didn't return to Helsinki empty handed.

This. Is an old duvet cover which I'm gonna make a reversible dress out of. Hopefully.

It just depends on whether or not there's enough fabric since I don't want the hearts to go sideways :D
Sooo cute~ I got it from my aunt who doesn't use it anymore since it has a small hole.
IF I have to decide to go with only one colour, which one should I take, The white or the red one?
I also saved an old bunny plush toy that my younger cousin had abandoned. I don't have pictures of it, but you can see the green cutie jammin' with me and another bunny in my robo.to.

I was looking for some sewing patterns from my aunt's old sewing magazines for the dress... but the magazines were from the "lovely" 90's...

As you can see...

Ah, since I was born in the late 80's, it means I grew up in the worst time of 90's, where the trouser legs were just a tad too short and shirts way too big with shoulder pads.
Not. Cool. Man.
The coolest things about 90's have to be the music and the cartoons.

Definitely not this...

Or these...

And this is not even that bad :D

So yeah... I might have some kind of... antipathies towards the style of the 90's x)
I know that the shoulder pads were WAY bigger in the 80's, but I still remember them so vividly from the 90's dress shirts and women's suits :'''D
And now those freaking Lady Gaga and Rihanna are trying to bring them back. Please. Stop them.

So many... and so many terrible sewing patterns...

On to happier (?) news! Let the randomness continue!

This is what I have to deal with when I wake up.

In the photo my hair isn't even that bad, it's usually way worse :D
I have naturally curly hair... not anything close to an afro, but very strong natural waves, so to say, that make my hair go EVERYWHERE.
If I straighten my hair and go out when it's raining or just otherwise humid, my hair will wave up automatically in 5 minutes or less. Nice.

Oh well, that's life and I have to thank my dad for my strong (wavy), brown hair x)
Let me continue my almost timelined story....

My return to Helsinki was soon followed by Midsummer which used to be my favourite festival but which I dislike nowadays since I usually have to spend it alone or at work.
Luckily my dear friend Iippa decided to save me from utter loneliness and boredom and came all the way from Oulainen to Helsinki to spend it with me.
MUCHLY APPRECIATED it was x)

We were supposed to watch almost all the Batman movies, but after the first one (Burton's Batman) stuff happened and we couldn't watch the rest... Instead we watched The Room (which is probably the worst movie ever made) and...

Did some candy box porn!

(Okay. I did.)

It all got me very... thoughtful.

We also played Amnesia! One of the very few things that actually makes me s*it my pants... every freaking time :D
All in all, my Midsummer turned out surprisingly good~

Today (well... yesterday) I went to the very centre of Helsinki to meet my friend Heli.

The Finnish National Theatre.

We met right infront of the building in question and then just... headed to Pohjoisesplanadi and even bumped into our other friend Sonja. It was pretty random and fun. We even went to Helsinki Info to ste- get some tourist quides in Japanese x)

I also realised that it's the Pride week! I was accidentally wearing the right top for it as well!

Look at my fringe! It's grown SO fast.

Yeah, I know you can't really see the top, but I'm wearing the same one in the manba photos from last year, so if you wanna see it, just go a bit back in my archive and it should be there :)
It says "Under the Rainbow" :333

So yeah... we went shopping and stuff and I bought some nail polishes with my nonexistent money...
But hey! At least my nails are cool now (DAMN YOU PHONE)!

So blurry -_-

Yeah, I used some blue and silver-ish nail polish I found from my cousin's cupboard and then used my own, new, Wet 'n' Wild Wild Shine glitter nail polish and top coat.
I stole the idea from Iippa who got it from this tutorial :3
Next time I'm gonna do another colours and it's gonna be even better. Mwah.

Aaanygays. I'm running out of randomness and I've been listening to Eye of the Tiger SO much that I should really head to bed now. Quickly.

Unkle Baourban is going quickly.
